Eight sailors headed out to Annapolis on Thursday, November 3rd to Annapolis, MD to compete in the Kennedy Cup Championships in Navy 44 sloops against nine other teams. They got in some well-needed practice that Friday. Breeze was around 5-8 knots on Saturday. Michigan ended the day in third place.
Sunday brought a northwesterly with much heavier breeze. Michigan had some chaos on the boat with the course being fairly split between the fleet throughout the day. The team finished in sixth place overall. However, it was a great experience for the sailors because they were able to sail in some heavy breeze without a coach on the keelboat like there was for 2016 IOR.
We would like to thank the Naval Academy for hosting the regatta and offering up their fleet of Navy 44 sloops!
