On February 27 and 28, the team traveled down to Eckerd in St. Petersburg, FL to kick off the season at the Mendelblatt Team Race. Following the regatta, they stayed at a rental house and trained for the rest of the week at the University of South Florida (USF) sailing center. With a hired coach and practices from 8 am to 5 pm, members of team were able to immensely improve their boat handling skills and team racing strategies. The weather was cooperative and the team was able to practice every day. During the nights, the team often ate dinner together and would play some form of game before going to bed for practice the next day. This is the same trip the team made for spring training last year and we plan to continue this tradition as it has been successful these past two years.
